This RBS 6 Nations Championship has the potential to be one of the most open tournaments in years.
England showed potential during the autumn but finished disappointingly against South Africa while France suffered a heavy defeat to Australia, which will have hit their confidence.
Wales have been struck by injuries but will still be dangerous, while Scotland and Italy will be especially hard to break down at home. Ireland, too, will be buoyed particularly by the performances of Leinster in the Heineken Cup, although not many people are talking about them.
Yet, of all the sides it is probably England who will go into the tournament with the most expectation, given they were the most improved of the home unions in the autumn.
But can Martin Johnson’s side finally land their first Six Nations title since they won the Grand Slam eight years ago, a feat that was a prelude the World Cup triumph in Sydney?
