Andrea Iannone was at his imperious best to dominate the first Moto2 race in Aragon from start to finish and win his third race of the year.
Julian Simon grabbed second place in front of his own fans after being pushed all the way by Gabor Talmasci, while Toni Elias made the best of a disappointing qualifying performance to take fourth.
Scott Redding, who produced a blistering qualifying run to start from second, went slowly backwards through the field and ultimately finished eighth, and that left Iannone free to build up a lead.
Simon and Talmasci were split by Simone Corsi, and the three spent the first half of the race bunched closely and jostling for position.
Elias had a terrible start, being clipped in the melee of a four-man crash and slipping back to 14th after having started 12th.
The riders who fell at the first corner escaped serious injury, while Brit Kev Coghlan's race never started when his bike was struck by a technical problem on the warm-up lap.
